Convention ratification course

Length: 2 days

Contents:

1. Why ratify the Convention

2. Process and mechanism in a successful ratification

3. Guidance on how to address problems during the process of ratification

4. Importance of reforms on laws and regulations of ICH

Previous training session:

Workshop on the ratification and implementation of the 2003 convention held in Chengdu

 

Implementation of the Convention course

Length: 5 days

Contents:

1. Convention tenets

2. Key concepts of protection work

3. Duties and obligations of State Parties

4. Involvement of ICH communities and other participants

5. International cooperative mechanism

Previous training session:

Workshop on the ratification and implementation of the 2003 convention held in Chengdu

Workshop on the Implementation of the 2003 Convention at the National Level in Beijing

 

Community-based Inventorying course

Length: 8 days

Contents

1. Basic characteristics of inventory draw-up process (especially the involvement of relevant communities and staff)

2. Inventory assistance on protection work efforts

3. Practical skills in taking inventory (i.e. field research)

Previous training session:

Workshop on Inventorying under the 2003 Convention at the National Level

Capacity Building Workshop on Community-based Documentation and Inventorying of Intangible Cultural Heritage

 

Preparation for program application course

Length: 5 days

Contents:

1. Model documentations for application that helps trainees understand the application process

2. Learn about standard application documentation through scrutinizing sample documents

3. Practical experience in making plans for protection work

4. Emphasis on the importance of ICH communities’ involvement

5. Make clear the principle that applicants are voluntary and informed ahead of the application.
