    During this year’s session in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage inscribed 4 elements on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, and 39 elements on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

    The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region and the International Centre for Water Security and Sustainable Management, both under the auspices of UNESCO published the 2022 Living Heritage Series, Water: Interconnectivity between Intangible Cultural Heritage and Science. The publication commemoration seminar was held as a program of ‘Water Culture and Citizen Forum’ during the Korea International Water Week.

  • ‘Asia-Pacific Research Forum for ICH Safeguarding’ and its Facebook group launched

    IRCI recently created a new platform, ‘Asia-Pacific Research Forum for ICH Safeguarding’, for enhancing research and international collaboration among ICH researchers in the Asia-Pacific region. This Forum offers programmes such as online seminars and conferences addressing various issues and the latest trends in ICH research as well as programmes for young ICH researchers.

  • Capacity building for periodic reporting kicks off in Africa with facilitators working group training

    Africa will be the fourth region to undergo the periodic reporting exercise in 2023. To support this process, UNESCO carried out a series of online trainings for 10 members of the facilitators network in Africa to prepare them to support the capacity-building strategy and the training of country focal points on periodic reporting that will take place in 2023.
