CRIHAP attends the fourteenth annual coordination meeting of UNESCO Category 2 Centres active in the field of intangible cultural heritage

On June 19, 2026, the fourteenth annual coordination meeting of UNESCO Category 2 Centres focused on intangible cultural heritage was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. A delegation from CRIHAP participated in the meeting. CRIHAP presented its recent activities and workplan for supporting capacity-building for periodic reporting and expressed its commitment to enhancing coordination and cooperation with other Category 2 Centres to provide robust support for the successful implementation of the new reporting cycle.

The Workshop on the Safeguarding and Revitalization of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Face of Disasters, jointly organized by CRIHAP and the UNESCO Jakarta Office, successfully opened on April 27, 2026, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It aims to strengthen capacities for safeguarding ICH in disaster contexts in Indonesia and the wider region, and to promote the integration of disaster risk reduction with ICH safeguarding.

On April 1, 2026, the 15th Session of the Governing Board of CRIHAP was held in Beijing. The Governing Board examined and approved CRIHAP’s 2025 Work Report, 2026 Work Plan, as well as the Outline and Formulation Plan for its Mid-Term Development Plan.
CRIHAP Advisory Committee convenes for 11th Session

The 11th Session of the Advisory Committee of CRIHAP was held in Beijing on March 31, 2026. The Committee reviewed and approved CRIHAP's 2025 work report and 2026 plan, and discussed CRIHAP's Mid-Term Development Plan (2027-2031), providing recommendations on its enhancement, outcome evaluation, and future implementation.
Secretary-General of the Namibian National Commission for UNESCO visits CRIHAP

Mr. Gernot Maximilian Piepmeyer, Secretary-General of the Namibian National Commission for UNESCO, visited CRIHAP on March 24. Both sides agreed to strengthen communication and exchanges, fully utilize CRIHAP's role as an international platform, and further promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of intangible cultural heritage between China and Africa.
China and UNESCO Renewed the Agreement on CRIHAP

The Government of the People’s Republic of China and UNESCO have recently signed the renewed agreement on CRIHAP, laying a solid foundation for the continued operation of this centre until 2033. Since its establishment, CRIHAP has delivered training to nearly 4,000 individuals from 44 countries and regions. Moving forward, CRIHAP will continue to inject new impetus into the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and the promotion of sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.
