ICHCAP and BIPA Signed MoU for the Development of Digital Cultural Heritage Content of ASEAN

On 19 April, International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter referred to as “ICHCAP”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency (hereinafter referred to as “BIPA”) to cooperate in digital cultural heritage content sector by linking up the ‘ichLinks’ with ‘ASEAN·ROK ICT Convergence Village’ project.

Young practitioners in Toba, Indonesia, lead the post-pandemic recovery

The pilot project Recovery of living heritage from the COVID-19 pandemic: Ulos weavers and Gorga sculptors in the Toba region in Indonesia. This, is one of the eight pilot projects that are currently implementing the recommendations for post-pandemic recovery, presented in the UNESCO report “Living Heritage in the Face of the COVID-19 Pandemic”.

Countries of Central America and the Caribbean come together to safeguard their Afro-descendant living heritage

Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, all States Parties to the 2003 Convention, are the eight member States of the Central American Integration System(SICA). Together with Cuba, they have agreed during a recent meeting of the Council of Ministers of Culture and Education of the SICA Educational and Cultural Coordination (CECC/SICA) to implement a safeguarding strategy for the cultural heritage of Afro-descendant communities.

Community-based needs identification underway for living heritage among displaced communities from Ukraine

In cooperation with national partners, UNESCO launched a community-based needs identification for living heritage among communities, groups and individuals from Ukraine displaced in five neighbouring countries: Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
