The network of UNESCO Chairs welcomes a new Chair dedicated to living heritage, specifically on Intangible Cultural Heritage in Public and Global Governance. Based at the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, Poland, this Chair was officially launched on 14 March 2024, in the presence of the Rector of the University and several other high-level guests.

In the IRCI project, ‘Research on ICH Contribution to SDGs: Intangible Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Cities and Communities’, three case studies have been conducted in the Angkor region of Cambodia, George Town of Malaysia, and the Marshall Islands to contribute to the achievement of SDGs through community development leveraging intangible cultural heritage (ICH).

Exploring opportunities for safeguarding foodways as living heritage through digital technologies

On 4 December 2023, UNESCO and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched the project ‘International food atlas and digital platform for safeguarding, promoting, and transmitting foodways to future generations’, during the eighteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Kasane, Republic of Botswana.
