Workshop on capacity building for transmission and sustainable development of traditional craftsmanship held in Shenzhen

With a slogan of “revitalizing traditional craftsmanship, transmitting cultural value”, focusing on the transmission and development of traditional craftsmanship, the workshop discussed the purposes and significance of ICH safeguarding, in search of harmony between the ICH and modern society. In addition, the experience sharing of the ICH safeguarding inspired relevant personnel to have a profound thinking of the dual attributes, spiritual and material attributes, of traditional craftsmanship.

Coincided with the 12th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), and be held in the main venue of the ICIF, the workshop promoted a better understanding of the relation between the safeguarding of the ICH and its rational utilization, and the role of the ICH in promoting sustainable development.

During the workshop, representatives visited the main venue of the 12th ICIF, Shenzhen HoHo Culture and Art Company Limited, Foundation for Safeguarding TANGY Gambiered Canton Gauze and Artron (Shenzhen) Art Centre. They experienced traditional Chinese paper-cuts making at HoHo Culture and Art, learned the Gambiered canton gauze dying and finishing technique, enjoyed a fashion show at TANGY Foundation. And they felt the strength of knowledge and transmission by reading ICH related publications at Artron.
