  • New Director-General of IRCI

    We are pleased to announce that Mr MACHIDA Daisuke has been appointed as the new Director-General of IRCI, effective from 1st April 2023, succeeding Mr IWAMOTO Wataru. We are confident that under Mr MACHIDA's leadership, IRCI will continue to facilitate further research for safeguarding ICH in the Asia-Pacific region.     The deadline of 30 April 2023 is fast approaching for non-governmental organizations with proven competence in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage to submit accreditation requests to provide advisory services to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

    31 March 2023 marks the 2024 cycle deadline for submitting nominations to the Lists of the 2003 Convention, proposals to the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices and requests for international assistance combined with nominations to the Urgent Safeguarding List or in the context of a request for a transfer from the Representative List to the Urgent Safeguarding List.

  • 181st State Party: San Marino joins the 2003 Convention!

    By depositing with the Director-General its instrument of ratification on 17 November 2022, San Marino became, three months later, the 181st State to join the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on 17 February 2023.
