On the International Day of Yoga on 21 June, UNESCO Headquarters welcomed Sadhguru – one of the world’s leading practitioners and teachers of Yoga, a practice inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2016.

The event organised by began with a captivating dance performance by Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation, creating a mesmerizing ambiance. Following the performance, Sadhguru took the stage to share his profound insights about Yoga and emphasize the significance of cultivating consciousness in order to address global challenges.

Sadhguru’s dedication to the cause of preserving and revitalizing soil through his #SaveSoil campaign is widely recognized. This campaign serves to raise awareness about the importance of enriching organic content in soil, which is crucial for sustaining our food sources, preserving biodiversity, and tackling the pressing issue of climate change.

During a conversation with Ms. Guila Clara KESSOUS, a UNESCO Artist for Peace, Sadhguru reflected on the initial appeal that brought him to Yoga during his childhood. He fondly recounted the influence of an elderly member of his family village, whose guidance sparked his lifelong journey. This anecdote exemplifies the power of inter-generational transmission, a tradition that Sadhguru himself is now committed to perpetuating.

Sadhguru’s presence served as an inspiration for individuals to embrace Yoga as a transformative practice. Through his advocacy for soil preservation and inter-generational transmission of knowledge, Sadhguru influences audiences beyond the universe of Yoga, impacting global challenges and fostering a better understanding of our interconnectedness.
