Between the 22nd and the 24th of April, the opening event of the fourth edition of the Italian Youth Forum will take place in Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. The Forum is organized by the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO.

A new UNESCO brochure on living heritage and emergencies

Living heritage throughout the world is increasingly affected by emergencies, including conflicts and disasters. On the one hand, emergencies directly threaten the practice and transmission of intangible cultural heritage, which provides a foundation to people’s identity and wellbeing. On the other hand, living heritage is a valuable resource that communities may draw on to strengthen their resilience and ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from various types of emergencies.

25-26 April: the Open-ended intergovernmental working group convenes to further discuss the Listing mechanisms

On 25 and 26 April, States Parties to the 2003 Convention and observers are invited to participate in the third part of the Open-ended intergovernmental working group in the framework of the global reflection on the listing mechanisms of the 2003 Convention.

UNESCO welcomes Nicaragua and Panama as members of CRESPIAL

Category 2 institutes and centres under the auspices of UNESCO (C2Cs) are established and funded by Member States to contribute to the achievement of UNESCO’s objectives. Each centre has a specialized field of activity and set of functions in order to accomplish those shared objectives. To this date, there are eight centres devoted to intangible cultural heritage, including the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Latin America (CRESPIAL).

Online Lecture on ICH to the students of ASEAN countries

Mr IWAMOTO, Director General of IRCI gave a lecture on the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) to 20 students from ASEAN countries, Timor Leste, and Japan on 24 February 2022. The lecture attracted the students by illustrating the characteristics of ICH, the difference with the tangible cultural heritage, the importance of collaboration between the tangible and intangible heritages, and the relationship of ICH with SDGs. The event was conceived in the framework of JENESYS Programme of Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE)
