CHIHAP holds workshop on the Nomination of ICH in Pakistan
Ms. Suzanne Ogge and Mr. Zhu Gang, facilitators certified by UNESCO, were invited to deliver lectures during the workshop. The lectures mainly included the contents of the Convention and its basic concepts, the relation between safeguarding of ICH and filling in nomination form, definition of the Convention on the safeguarding of ICH and types of safeguarding measures. The two facilitators focused on the basic contents, filling criteria and skills of Form 01 (List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding) and Form 02 (Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) of the nomination. They shared a large number of practical cases, and carried out stimulation list nomination filling, evaluation, revision and other links by dividing the trainees into groups, focusing on strengthening the practical training of the trainees. The two facilitators also gave specific explanations in connection with the common problems in the list nomination pointed out by UNESCO review bodies over the years. Mr. Nazir Ahmed, Jiont Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage of Pakistan, assisted the whole workshop as an assistant trainer.

During the workshop, CRIHAP’s working group communicated closely with the head of Ministry of Heritage of Pakistan and exchanged views on the evaluation of the results of the four-year capacity-building training projects organized by the CRIHAP for Pakistan.
As a Category 2 center of UNESCO in the field of intangible cultural heritage in the Asia-Pacific region, CRIHAP is deeply involved in implementing UNESCO global capacity-building strategy for the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage, publicizing and promoting the Convention, and is committed to providing capacity-building training services in ICH to 48 member countries in the region.
This is the 35th training workshop on capacity building of intangible cultural heritage held by CRIHAP. Up to now, the training workshops organized by the centre have covered 32 countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific, with 1113 direct beneficiaries.
