2016 Sub-Regional Meeting for Intangible Cultural Heritage Safeguarding in Northeast Asia Focuses on the Role of the Media

Participants to the meeting discussed and agreed on that, with commitment to the Convention, underlining the role of the media as a tool for raising the visibility of intangible cultural heritage and sharing information, encourage media to raise community awareness, especially among young people, about ICH safeguarding by all means as well as its own awareness of the Convention, and adopt measures such as establishing an exchange and cooperation mechanism of media within the sub-region.

Delegates from International Research Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (IRCI) and International Training Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (CRIHAP) were invited to the meeting.

The delegate from CRIHAP was interviewed by Mongolian Eco TV Channel, introducing on the status of safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage in China and measures taken by Chinese government.
