The fifth session of the Governing Board of International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the Auspices of UNESCO (CRIHAP) convened in Beijing, China, on March 22, 2016.

The meeting was chaired by the Honorary President of the Chinese National Academy of Arts and Chairperson of the Governing Board of CRIHAP, WANG Wenzhang.

More than 30 people were present at the session, including members of the Governing Board, delegates from the Advisory Committee of CRIHAP, and representatives from the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, Chinese National Academy of Arts, International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (IRCI), International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP), as well as scholars and experts.

The meeting approved CRIHAP’s Work Report and Financial Statement for Financial Year 2015.

In 2015, CRIHAP organized various kinds of training under the framework of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for trainees from 17 countries and regions, including Cambodia, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand, benefiting more than 200 people.

ZHAI Deyu, Deputy Director-General of Bureau for External Cultural Relations, Ministry of Culture of P. R. China, said that CRIHAP utilizes all sorts of resources in a creative way, constantly enriches training content, and tries different training forms.

It shows CRIHAP’s great responsibility to undertake UNESCO’s Training of Trainer Workshop and Coordination Meeting of Category 2 Centers, and CRIHAP has also strengthened cooperation with the headquarters and regional offices of UNESCO, as well as Chinese Culture Centres overseas, Zhai said.
