The 「2020 World Forum for Intangible Cultural Heritage」 hosted by the National Intangible Heritage Center (Director Yeon-Soo Kim) and organized by UNESCO ICHCAP (Diretor-General Gi Hyung Keum) is to be held online for three days from September 23 to September 25, with global environmental and intangible cultural heritage experts gathering in one place.

ICH Webinar Series on Higher Education to End with a Session on Curriculum Development for ICH Safeguarding

Session IV of the ICH Webinar Series will be held on 12 August 2020 at 16:00-17:30 (KST). Co-organized by ICHCAP and the UNESCO Bangkok Office, the series has been unearthing talking points and issues about the integration of living heritage into higher education since its inaugural session in June 2020.

Five communities in Western Uganda participated in documenting and revitalizing Empaako intangible cultural heritage

In 2017, the Tooro Youth Platform for Action (Engabu Z Tooro) started working with five communities in Western Uganda to revitalize and document ceremonies and practices associated with the Empaako naming system, inscribed on the Urgent Safeguarding List in December 2013, with the support of a UNESCO grant from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund. During the last three years, the comprehensive and community-driven process documented knowledge on ceremonies, rituals and practices associated with the Empaako naming system and the meaning, social values and philosophy of the practice for the practitioners who live with the reality of this heritage.

IRCI, in cooperation with the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology (VME), and the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES) has conducted the project that aims to contribute SDG4 (Quality education) by incorporating intangible cultural heritage (ICH) into formal education from FY 2018 to FY 2019.
