The first Coordination Meeting of Category 2 Institutes and Centres under the auspices of UNESCO and UNITWIN Networks/UNESCO Chairs related to Culture was held in Paris, the headquarters of UNESCO on December 14, 2015. The meeting was organized by the Culture Sector Conventions Common Services Unit (CLT/CCS), with the attendance of the directors from the offices of heritage, higher education, emergency policy and legislation. About 20 UNESCO cultural category 2 institutes and centres as well as hundreds of representatives from around 40 twinning partner universities and UNESCO Chairs attended the meeting.

Xu Rong, Director-General of the CRIHAP, and Zhang Jing, Deputy Director-General of the CRIHAP, also participated in the conference.

The meeting centered on three topics. First, directors of each UNESCO department gave a presentation of their prior tasks, including the role of culture in UNESCO's 2030 sustainable development plan, UNESCO's cultural heritage preservation in face of conflicts and disasters, and the heritage safeguarding to meet the climate change, which is the result of UESCO's climate summit. Second, directors introduced the evaluation and renewal progress of category 2 centres, twinning universities and UNESCO Chairs. Third, attendees communicated on "establish network to promote efficient cooperation" and "UNESCO's cultural programs can be leveraged by category 2 institutes and centres and UNESCO Chairs". Two category 2 institutes and centres and two UNESCO Chairs were chosen to give a note on each topic.

As the representative for category 2 institutes and centres, Director-General Xu participated in the communication on "establish network to promote efficient cooperation". Taking the training of CRIHAP's capacity building, Xu spoke on how to extend the partners' network and promote efficiency to give a stronger support UNESCO global capacity building strategy.
