Capacity Building Workshop on Teaching and Learning with East Asian ICH (Session 3) opens in Nanjing
On July 6, 2026, the Capacity Building Workshop on Teaching and Learning with East Asian ICH (Session 3), co-organized by the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (CRIHAP) and the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, officially opened in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.
Mr. Wang Hongjun, Party Secretary of the Chinese National Academy of Arts and member of the CRIHAP Governing Board, Ms. Duong Bich Hanh, Programme Specialist for Culture of the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, and Ms. Song Lili, Director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Division of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Jiangsu Province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Mr. Zhang Jing, Director-General of CRIHAP, presided over the ceremony.
The four-day workshop is co-facilitated by UNESCO facilitators Linina Phuttitarn and Vanessa Achilles. Through a combination of group lectures, group discussions, role-playing exercises, and field visits, the workshop emphasizes cross-disciplinary and cross-functional collaboration. It aims to equip educators and cultural practitioners with practical tools and strategies to jointly design curricula, co-develop teaching resources, and collaboratively plan and implement projects that integrate living heritage into formal and non-formal education. The programme also seeks to generate replicable approaches that can be adapted and scaled up across different countries and regions.
The workshop is supported by Fosun. CRIHAP will continue to build platforms for exchange and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, and contribute to the ongoing advancement of intangible cultural heritage safeguarding in the region.
