Online Workshop on ICH Nomination for Indonesia kicks off
An online workshop on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Nomination for Indonesia, co-organized by the UNESCO Jakarta Cluster Office and the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO, kicked off on Oct 10. Moe Chiba, head of Culture Unit for the UNESCO Jakarta Cluster Office, and Desse Yussubrasta, a coordinator with the Indonesian World Heritage Affairs Committee, attended the opening session of the workshop.
Moe Chiba said that the ultimate goal of the Intangible Cultural Heritage nomination is not just about putting the heritages on the UNESCO’s heritage lists but to raise people’s awareness through the efforts made by State Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, including education, capacity-building and publicity, and to keep the heritages alive amongst local communities and aboriginal people. She hopes that the trainees attending the workshop will not only learn about the key items during the nomination process but also understand the essence of the Convention, thus making contributions to ICH inheritance and protection.
Desse Yussubrasta thanked CRIHAP and the UNESCO Jakarta Cluster Office for organizing the workshop and for answering the trainees’ questions about ICH safeguarding.
