A step towards more inclusive access to information on living heritage
The UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage website has introduced a new accessibility feature to empower persons with disabilities and users with diverse needs to better navigate and engage with its content.
This new feature enables users to personalize their browsing experience according to their specific needs. Whether adjusting the font size, increasing letter or line spacing, or switching to a dyslexia-friendly font, the tool aims at enhancing readability and visual comfort. Tools like a reading guide, big cursor, and the option to stop animations offer further support for smooth, inclusive navigation.
This enhancement is part of UNESCO’s broader commitment to digital inclusion, ensuring that all communities, including persons with special needs, can access information and take part in the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. By improving accessibility, the website supports the recognition of living heritage as a shared resource that promotes inclusion, dignity, and respect for cultural diversity.
