The Capacity Building Workshop on Teaching and Learning with East Asian Shared Heritage commenced in Jintan district, Changzhou city
The "Capacity Building Workshop on Teaching and Learning with East Asian Shared Heritage," jointly organized by CRIHAP and UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, commenced in Jintan district, Changzhou city, Jiangsu province, from November 19 to 21, 2024. Nearly 20 university professors, lecturers, educators, and representatives from China, Japan, South Korea, and Mongolia participated in the workshop.
Zhang Jing, Director-General of CRIHAP, Doung Bich Hanh, Head of Cultural Sector from UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, Yan Xuhua, Deputy Director of the Changzhou Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau, Yang Bo, Deputy District Chief of the Jintan District People's Government, Yin Ren, Director of the Jintan District Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau, and Kong Yeping, from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, attended the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Yang Bo welcomed everyone and introduced the overview of Jintan District as well as the current status of intangible cultural heritage safeguarding and development. Doung Bich Hanh emphasized that UNESCO pays great attention to the integration of culture and education, expressing gratitude to CRIHAP for building a bridge for communication. She hoped that this workshop would serve as a starting point, laying a solid foundation for the integration of intangible cultural heritage and curriculum development as well as teaching in future parts of the programme. Zhang Jing stated that CRIHAP is working closely with UNESCO and has conducted multiple capacity-building programmes related to the theme of "Intangible Cultural Heritage and Education." CRIHAP looks forward to establishing long-term connections with various parties and exploring more cooperation opportunities.
