Training of Trainers Workshop on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage for Mongolia (Third Session)
The third session of the Training of Trainers Workshop on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage for Mongolia is scheduled to begin on September 22, 2025, in Ulaanbaatar. Jointly organized by the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (CRIHAP), under the auspices of UNESCO, and Mongolia's National Center for Cultural Heritage, this workshop represents the culmination of a three-year training program.
This five-day intensive program will be facilitated by UNESCO expert Saruul Arslan, with local practical guidance provided by national expert Erdenesuvd Bayaraa. Furthermore, UNESCO facilitator Rahul Goswami will contribute through pre-recorded video lessons. The training methodology will incorporate a dynamic blend of international case analysis, collaborative group activities, and interactive role-playing scenarios. Participants will critically examine specific heritage projects in Mongolia from a global perspective, with particular attention paid to the crucial links between safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and promoting sustainable development.
Key agenda items will encompass inventorying techniques, disaster risk reduction strategies, the essential role of community participation, safeguarding ICH in emergency situations, the impact of climate change on ICH, and related adaptation measures. As the final component of a comprehensive trainer training initiative, this workshop is designed to significantly enhance participants' theoretical knowledge and practical capabilities in the field of ICH protection, ultimately contributing to broader capacity-building efforts for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage throughout Mongolia.
