The Capacity-Building Workshop on Shared Heritage Safeguarding for China and Malaysia held in Xiamen

The Capacity-Building Workshop on Shared Heritage Safeguarding for China and Malaysia was held in Xiamen from May 18 to 21, 2025. The workshop was jointly organized by the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (CRIHAP), the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, and the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.


Liu Hongchang, member of CRIHAP's Governing Board and Vice President of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, and Lin Shouqin, Deputy Director-General of the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Christina Yeo, Undersecretary for International Relations (Culture) at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, delivered a video speech. Zhang Jing, Director-General of CRIHAP, hosted the ceremony. The workshop brought together 20 participants, including experts, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) bearers, and community representatives from both China and Malaysia who are actively engaged in safeguarding the Wangchuan Ceremony and Lion Dance.
