The 2023 World Children’s Festival for Intangible Cultural Heritage is approaching. It will be a comprehensive festival, including performances, exhibitions, and hands-on experience opportunities on global intangible cultural heritage (ICH) for children. The festival will also bring ICH close to the families, especially targeting children as the future ICH-safeguarding generations.

This festival, hosted by Jeonju City and organized by the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region Under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP), will be held in the city of Jeonju at the National Intangible Heritage Center (NIHC), which is well-known for its location of major intangible heritage institutions. The festival organizer is partnering with NIHC, Korea Traditional Culture Center, Asia Culture Center Foundation, and other cultural preservation organizations of Korea. This is a part of the Korea Intangible Cultural Festival.

This festival invites young performers in the Asia-Pacific region to showcase the culture that represents their communities and identities. It also marks a great effort in safeguarding the long-span of traditions that have been passed across generations.

The performances by children are as follows:

The Lion and Dragon Dance, Vietnamese traditional entertainment
Biyelgee, Mongolian traditional folk dance
Gijeopnori, Korean traditional flag dance
Sword Dance, Korean traditional performance
Taekgyeon, Korean traditional martial arts
Hahoe Byeolsingut Mask Play, Korean traditional performance
Korean traditional dance

Please save the dates and visit the festival on 8 and 9 September 2023, from(KST) 9:30 to 16:30. To foster interactive participation, the venue for the festival will be an outdoor stage area at the NIHC, Republic of Korea.
