Workshop on Central Asia's ICH and Creative Industry held online
During the workshop, several designers and entrepreneurs from the fashion industry were invited to deliver lectures. These industry insiders discussed the relation between cultural heritage and fashion industry with vivid examples. They also talked about existing risks before giving practical tips on how to avoid mistakes. Then the trainees worked in groups to carry out in-depth discussions and exchanged their ideas, on the basis of knowledge and cases they learned from the lectures.
It is known to all that Central Asia is rich in intangible cultural heritages. In recent years, CRIHAP has paid close attention to the region.
As ICH-related training for this region deepens, more and more areas and topics have made inroads into the workshops. The combination of ICH project, the studies in other academic disciplines and local industries have become the latest trend which is expected to help with the sustainable development of ICH in Central Asia, organizers say.
In response to the UNESCO's call for integrating the resources of different culture-related conventions and pushing forward dialogues between these conventions, CRIHAP has organized the capacity-building workshop on intangible cultural heritage safeguarding and creative industry in Central Asia, the first cross-convention, cross-discipline capacity-building workshop on ICH safeguarding for the sub-region, thus contributing to the further development of ICH safeguarding and the sustainable development of ICH in the region.
To date, CRIHAP has organized a total of 62 ICH capacity-building workshops covering 41 countries and regions, with 2,267 direct beneficiaries throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
