Online Workshop on ICH Capacity-Building for Youth kicks off
Following the online classes, the trainees will conduct a two-week field trip to discover, select and record ICH items, ICH-related events and personalities under the guidance of the UNESCO-accredited facilitators and local coordinators. The aim of the field trip is to establish a connection between the youths and ICH, to deepen their understanding of ICH and to raise their awareness and enthusiasm to safeguard, promote and inherit intangible cultural heritages through various types of interaction.
In recent years, the UN has attached close attention to the development and growth of youth groups in different fields. During this time where everyone is dealing with a pandemic, how to draw youths closer to ICH and further raise their awareness of and willingness to participate in ICH safeguarding has become a focus of attention for UNESCO, said Shahbaz Khan.
Since 2018, CRIHAP has been looking at youths as a key trainee group and trying to attract more young people to join in ICH safeguarding.
