For a cultural value of water, ICHCAP and i-WSSM signed MoU
On 27 January, International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter referred to as “Centre”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with International Centre for Water Security and Sustainable Management (hereinafter referred to as “i-WSSM”) to raise public awareness on the cultural value of water and engagement through water security issues and safeguard intangible cultural heritage.
The i-WSSM was established to contribute to the efforts of the international society, and as Korea’s first category II centre under the Natural Sciences sector, it aims to assist developing countries with their water security strategies through its research, education, and global networks.
The Centre and the i-WSSM decided to cooperate for ▲ conducting joint research projects and producing relevant publications ▲ co-hosting seminars and other vents ▲ engaging in staff exchanges and training, etc. In particular, the first cooperative project is agreed to publish Living Heritage Series, under the theme of “(tentative)Water Management with Traditional Knowledge,” releasing in the second half of this year.
With this chance, it is expected that the intersectoral synergy in terms of sustainable development based on each organization’s expertise will be expanded.
