The International Training Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO cooperated with Samoa’s Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture to hold a seminar under the theme “The revitalization and sustainable development of the traditional building skills in South-Pacific regions” from Nov 3 to 7, 2014. This program was held mainly to attract experts and inheritors to discuss the protection and sustainable development of traditional building skills and strengthen communication and exchanges among them.

The seminar lasted five days. Four experts in the construction field from Japan, China and Samoa gave lessons to practitioners from Samoa’s cultural department of all levels and to over 30 representatives from the Republic of Fiji, the Republic of Palau and Niue.
