Workshop on Central Asia's ICH and Creative Industry held online
A capacity-building workshop on intangible cultural heritage safeguarding and creative industries in Central Asia was held online from Aug 15-17. Co-organized by the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office and the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO, the three-day event drew 19 trainees from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
UNESCO-accredited ICH facilitator Tamara Nikolic Deric started her class by talking about the characteristics of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions as well as their contents related to the fashion industry. Her lectures mainly tackled two hot topics: the goals of sustainable development under the framework of cultural heritage and the fashion industry, and intellectual property rights protection and marketing from the perspective of industry insiders.
