ICH safeguarding workshop for the Philippines concludes in success
On the basis of exercises done by trainees during the self-study period, facilitators made in-depth analysis of the steps for developing ICH safeguarding plans, including the development of templates, worksheets and evaluation criteria.
Then, the trainees worked in groups to learn how to develop ICH safeguarding plans and policies using the indigenous farming of Phailes Kano, the ritual of Padásal, the handloom weaving technique, the Pagrara and Paghabol weaving techniques as examples. At the end of the course, they shared and discussed each group’s plans and transformed theories into practice and achieved positive results.
The three-year training program has witnessed the forging of a deep friendship between CRIHAP, institutions from the Philippines, UNESCO facilitators and trainees. The facilitators all agreed they feel honored to teach the trainees and share with them methods and experiences, and it is gratifying for them to see the steady progress trainees made in each workshop over the past three years.
Many trainees spoke at the closing session, congratulating each other for what they have learned as well as for friendships they have developed. They also expressed their thanks to CRIHAP for its support and assistance.
