“Training of Trainers for the 2003 Convention at Chinese Colleges and Universities” successfully concludes in Beijing

UNESCO’s ICH facilitator Suzanne Ogge delivers a lecture.

Susan Ogg delivered a lecture titled “UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Key Concepts, Mechanisms, and Emerging Themes.” Through representative cases of intangible cultural heritage safeguarding worldwide, she emphasized the Convention’s openness and flexibility, focusing on living heritage with sustainable status. It prioritizes current and future intangible heritage safeguarding, with community participation being an important aspect. She introduced emerging themes and dynamic development trends such as “Intangible Cultural Heritage and Education,” “Economic Dimensions of Intangible Cultural Heritage,” “Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Emergency,” “Support for Indigenous Peoples,” and “Sustainable Development.”

The training also featured lectures by renowned experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Beijing Normal University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage, and the Chinese Academy of Arts (China National Centre for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage).
