Fourth Training of Trainers Workshop held online

From Aug 24 to 28, the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (CRIHAP) organized the fourth Training of Trainers Workshop for Central Asia online. The five-day training drew 16 intangible cultural heritage experts and scholars from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan who participated as trainees. The training was co-organized by the UNESCO Headquarters and the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office.

UNESCO-accredited ICH facilitators Tamara Nikolic Deric and Aijarkyn Kojobekova were invited to give lectures on knowledge under the framework of Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The two facilitators lectured mainly on the international assistance request and nomination of the Register of Best Safeguarding Practices and joint nominations by member states. Through special lectures, case studies, group work and classroom quizzes, they guided the trainees to gain a deeper understanding of related knowledge and helped them grow from ICH experts and scholars to UNESCO-accredited ICH facilitators.
