Exhibition on CRIHAP achievements kicks off in Paris

Wang Meng, representative from the Chinese permanent delegation to UNESCO delivered a speech on behalf of Chinese Ambassador Shen Yang. He pointed out that the 2003 Convention was crucial to safeguard intangible cultural heritage (ICH). “As a state party, China has cooperated closely with UNESCO to carry out various ICH safeguarding activities, and China was sure to be more involved in further cooperation,” Wang added.
“CRIHAP was set up under the agreement between UNESCO and the Chinese government in 2012. For six years, CRIHAP has been committed to capacity building of safeguarding ICH in the Asia-Pacific region according to the 2003 Convention and UNESCO strategies,” said Liang Bin, CRIHAP Director-General. “Focusing on capacity building, CRIHAP has organized 27 workshops through cooperating with relevant governments and UNESCO field offices. A total of 872 attendees from 31 Asia-Pacific countries have been trained as direct beneficiaries, which is conducive to promoting national and regional ICH safeguarding.”
