2014 Intangible Cultural Heritage Conference held in Jeonju, South Korea

The 2014 Intangible Cultural Heritage Conference themed “Towards Efficient Roles of NGOs for Safeguarding ICH in the Asia-Pacific Region” was held in Jeonju, South Korea from June 26-28. It was co-hosted by ICHCAP (International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO in South Korea), Korea Intangible Cultural Heritage Center, Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation and Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea. The conference involved representatives from the Asian-Pacific region, Africa, South America and Europe. It had discussions on the role of NGOs in safeguarding, promoting and inheriting intangible cultural heritage (ICH), and stated that NGOs should serve UNESCO’s capacity-building strategy for safeguarding ICH by strengthening networking and information sharing.
